The project was initiated by our company in partnership with a local maritime museum to showcase how the technology of virtual reality can benefit the industry. We have created a demo version in order to showcase what level of realism, engagement and knowledge absorption can be achieved with minimum resources and maximum immersion.

This simulator can be used in museums, schools and galleries for educational purposes. It can also be used to showcase the possibilities of 3D visualizations for maritime industry.

01- Research & Development

Maritime museum like never before

We started the research with thinking about how VR can benefit the maritime industry. The answer was obvious. Less people are interested in the industry due to the lack of knowledge. On that note, our team has decided to create a museum that would provide the information about every exhibit and even give a chance to step into it. The most relevant tank, helicopter and ship models were chosen to lead the exhibition. Afterwards, we gathered all the characteristics of our exhibits and agreed on the best museum location.

At the beginning, our team had to accurately examine every exhibit and recreate it in a form of a 3D model. The main focus was to create the inner parts of the exhibits as they let the user to get the most immersive experience. After integrating 360 images into the objects, our goal was to develop a location for the museum. Therefore, a modern environment was chosen as well as stunning outside views. Our designers have chosen the most appealing colours for the museum that won’t distract from the exhibition and are not too bright for people with sensitive sight. All this with a comfortable menu that helps navigate through the location - is the basis of our maritime museum.

03- Maintenance

An exciting way to learn

Future updates are coming to the museum. We are implementing multiplayer option for people to be able to visit the maritime museum at once and actually interact with each other. Later on, we are planning to expand the exhibition and add more exciting objects for visitors to discover. The maritime museum in VR is a platform that can be easily adapted to new implementations in order to bring the best museum experience possible.
